*** watch American Pie Presents - The Naked Mile now!! ***
One of John White (III)’s best movies. If you haven’t seen it yet, there’s no time like the present! If you’ve already seen it, it’ll be even better this time!
Kudos to the home-video exec who came up with the “Presents…” prefix to keep a movie franchise going, even though it has almost no relation to the entries that came before. This is number five in the series that started with American Pie, an unexpected hit of a teen sex romp that kept the box office and DVD grosses (not to mention gross-outs) coming. The last entry, American Pie Presents: Band Camp, was the first non-theatrical release, which gave the filmmakers more “anything goes” freedom in the “unrated” department than ever. The Naked Mile kicks it up another notch with more gratuitous female nudity, bodily fluid flinging, and sexual overtones than anyone thought could be topped. Pubescent boys and those with minds forever stuck in that dimension, get ready to ogle babes and roar at purile humor like you never have before. The only American Pie connections are in the form of the Stifler family, filled with a never-ending string of sex-crazed high school and college boys, and Eugene Levy as family friend Mr. Levenstein, who pops in for a (presumably) hefty paycheck and a couple of lines of sexual wisdom about the connection between promiscuity and growing up. Our hero, Erik Stifler, is on a weekend vacation at the local college where his cousin knows all the hot babes. He’s in possession of a “free pass” from his virginal girlfriend to lose his own virginity. His visit just happens to coincide with the college’s traditional Naked Mile run, an excuse to fill the screen with raw young flesh and stupid drunken frat kids engaging in silly sexual deviance that some people may find funny. And let’s face it, if they’re going to find the nudity and sordid sex play offensive, they’re not going to have this DVD in their hands. All ends as it should: Erik finds tru sex–ahem, love–with his girlfriend and everyone else finds it with whoever is handy. Mostly importantly, the cycle is left open with everything ripe for another sure-to-be classic in the American Pie Presents series. –Ted Fry

*** Tekkon Kinkreet playing NOW!! ***

This is a great movie with Yoshinori Okada, Nao Omori, Min Tanaka, Sanchu Mori, Yusuke Iseya
Basically it’s about:
Tekkonkinkreet (2006) is a landmark in the increasing cross-pollination between Japanese and American animation: Based on a manga by Taiyo Matsumoto, the film was made in Japan at Studio 4C, but directed by American Michael Arrias. The story unfolds in Treasure Town, a scabrous metropolitan slum so gritty it makes the viewer want to clean under his fingernails. Orphans White and Black share an existence at the fringes of an already marginalized subculture. White seems naive, if not learning disabled: at 11, he can’t tie his shoes or dress himself. But he has an uncanny sixth sense about what’s happening in Treasure Town. Older, streetwise Black looks after White and receives the emotional support he needs in return: They’re two halves of a damaged whole. The arrival of a murderous yakuza boss who wants to demolish Treasure Town and build an amusement park draws Black and White into an escalating spiral of physical and emotional violence. Although the ending of Tekkonkinkreet feels needlessly obscure, it’s a striking and often powerful film from a first-time director. (Rated R: violence, grotesqu imagery, brief nudity, alcohol and tobacco use) –Charles Solomon
Tekkon Kinkreet is awesome. I’ve probably seen it 20 times, and I never get tired of it. Have you seen it? If you click the image above you can learn how you can watch it now, or any time.

*** watch The Miles Davis Story!! ***
The Miles Davis Story is awesome. I’ve probably seen it 20 times, and I never get tired of it. Have you seen it? If you click the image above you can learn how you can watch it now, or any time.
The movie stars:
George Avakian, Ian Carr, Don Carter (II), Ron Carter, Jimmy Cobb
and here’s the plot:
Trumpeter-bandleader Miles Davis (1926-91) was a catalyst for the major innovations in post-bop, cool jazz, hard-bop, and jazz-fusion, and his wispy and emotional trumpet tones were some of the most evocative sounds ever heard. He was also one of the most identifiable and misunderstood pop icons of the 20th century. This engrossing British documentary shows the complex layers of this magnificent and mercurial artist. Through rare footage and interviews, we learn of Davis’s middle-class upbringing and his early days with bop legends Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker. The documentary bluntly deals with Davis’s narcotic nadir and his rise from the depths to become a bona fide jazz icon in the mid-’50s to late ’60s. But the most penetrating and poignant portraits of Davis come from musicians who played with and were influnced by him, including Shirley Horn, Herbie Hancock, Joe Zawinul, and Keith Jarrett.
Outstanding musical selections include modal masterpieces “So What” and “Blu in Green,” the haunting soundtrack to the 1957 French film Ascenseur pour l’echafaud, his romantic rendition of Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time,” and his collaborations with arranger Gil Evans. The most surprising aspects of Davis’s personality that emerge from this film are his shyness, vulnerability, and, yes, humility. As he said himself, “Don’t call me a legend. Call me Miles Davis.” –Eugene Holley Jr.

Thought you might like to know the best place to watch Fullmetal Alchemist, Volume 1: The Curse online. This is THE place taking the Internet by storm. Check it out for yourself right now - you can thank me later.

*** Download Fullmetal Alchemist, Volume 1: The Curse Online!! ***
It’s easy to understand why Fullmetal Alchemist has regularly topped viewer polls in Japan since its debut in 2003: the fantasy-adventure by director Mizushima Seiji (Generator Gawl) offers a satisfying blend of slapstick comedy, exciting adventure, and genuine warmth. Young Alphonse and Edward Elric delve into forbidden knowledge when they use alchemy to try to bring their mother back from the dead–and pay a terrible price under the principle of “equivalent trade.” Al becomes a disembodied soul in a suit of armor; Ed loses an arm and a leg, but later receives mechanical prostheses. The brothers wander through a world that resembles late 19th century Europe, seeking the legendary Philosopher’s Stone, which they believe can restore their bodies. Unlike American programs that juxtapose smart-aleck humor and heavy-handed sermonizing, Fullmetal Alchemist has real heart. Neither the comedy nor the action detract from the bond between the brothers that constitutes the emotional core of the series. (Rated TV PG: violence, alcohol use) –Charles Solomon
